Thu, September 2, 2010 1. FOOD COURT MENUS: Tuesday: Hot Dogs - $1.25, French Fries - $1.25 2. BUSSING FOR TODAY: Busses will transport students home at 2:30 today (following the freshmen mixer). NO BUSSES will run at the 12:20 dismissal time. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors must provide their own transportation home at 12:20 or wait to ride the 2:30 busses. Bus #03 will bring students home who live to the south and east of school and bus #04 will bring students home who live to the north and west of Unity. Unity busses will run their normal routes. 3. FRESHMEN: Name tags for the MIXER will be distributed during your Earth Science classes today. Busses will leave after 7^th period from the north parking lot to bring you to the mixer. 4. TECH CENTER STUDENTS: Driving permission slips must be turned into the office or Mr. Soodsma. You will not be allowed to drive/ride to or from Tech Center without signed permission from your parents. Extra forms are available in the office. 5. BOOKSTORE: Today is the last day that the bookstore will be open during the school day. Be sure to stop in today if you still need a planner or any textbooks. 6. CHAPEL sign-up sheets are now available from your 3^rd period teacher. If you would like to be involved in chapel this year, make sure you fill out a sheet and return it to the office or Mrs. Veltema. See Mrs. Veltema with any questions. 7. Students who normally ride a Hudsonville Public bus must provide their own transportation to school and Unity busses will bring students home. Bus #03 will bring students home who live to the south and east of Unity and bus #04 will bring students home who live to the north and west of school. Unity busses will run their normal routes. TOMORROW: Busses will transport students home at 2:30, following the freshmen mixer. NO BUSSES will run at the 12:20 dismissal time. Unity Christian’s FALL FITNESS FESTIVAL (formerly called the Sader Run) will be held next week Saturday, September 11, at the athletic complex on 48^th Avenue. This is the largest fund raising effort for Unity Christian’s athletic program. You can choose to participate in the traditional SADER RUN, the 5K CROSS COUNTRY run, or the 19-mile BIKE RIDE. You may even test your fitness level by participating in the DUATHALON (biking 19 miles and running the 5K)! The bike ride begins at 9:00 a.m.; the Sader Run at 10:00 a.m.; and the 5K run at 10:15 a.m. Information and sponsor sheets can be found on Unity’s website or in the office. All TECH CENTER STUDENTS must meet with Mr. Soodsma today immediately following 4^th period in the south gym lobby. Driving permission slips will be distributed at this time and are due back on Thursday. You will not be allowed to drive or ride to and from Tech Center until you turn in your signed permission slip to Mr. Soodsma. 4. The bookstore will open each morning this week at 7:30 a.m. and will be open to students throughout the day. The bookstore will be closed after school. STUDENT PLANNERS are available in the bookstore for $4. 5. SCHOOL PICTURES will be taken tomorrow. All students must have their picture taken for their student ID. Picture order forms were mailed home in August. Extra order forms are available in the office. Pictures will be taken as follows: Sophomores – 1^st period, seniors – 3^rd period, juniors – 4^th period, freshmen – 5^th period. Students should stay in their classes until Mr. Soodsma comes to get you. 6. Students interested in auditioning for the fall MUSICAL should come to a short informational meeting during lunch today in the choir room (#31). 7. Unity Christian’s FALL FITNESS FESTIVAL (Sader Run) will be held on Saturday, September 11, at the athletic complex on 48^th Avenue. This is the largest fund raising effort for Unity Christian’s athletic program. In an effort to enhance the Sader Run and in recognition of the health consciousness of our community, we are excited to introduce a 19-mile BIKE RIDE and a 5K CROSS COUNTRY RUN option to the traditional Sader Run. You may even test your fitness level by participating in the DUATHALON (biking 19 miles and running the 5K)! We are renaming this event the Fall Fitness Festival. The bike ride begins at 9:00 a.m.; the Sader Run at 10:00 a.m.; and the 5K run at 10:15 a.m. Information and sponsor sheets can be found on Unity’s website or in the office. This is a fundraising effort! Our hope is that all of Unity Christian’s community will find how they can become involved by walking, running, biking, or financially supporting someone at the Fall Fitness Festival. If you want to join the excitement, come out on Saturday, September 11, and have some fun! 8. Athletes are reminded that a SHUTTLE BUS (#46) to 48^th Ave. will leave from the north parking lot at 2:40 p.m. every day. Arrange your ride home from the 48^th Ave. campus. 9.
